ENDURANCE
One of my joys is driving through a nearby community of Amish farms, especially in the midst of a snowstorm. I love the look of white snow on the ground, a light gray sky above, and a blizzard of snowflakes adding texture to everything between sky and earth. It is both graphic and evocative.
This photograph was a special gift, with ewes and and lambs taking shelter from the storm next to a beautiful red wooden barn. The rooflines and silo add interest, as does the Belgian draft horse behind a fence. This piece speaks of an alternative way of life, linked both to religion and to our rural past.
