DECEPTION PASS
Deception Pass is a tidal channel with torrential currents in Puget Sound. Deception Pass Bridge, crossing the channel, links Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands and provides one of the most dramatic seascapes in Puget Sound. I photographed this view of a Douglas Fir along the shore, with boiling currents and waves as a backdrop, from high above while standing on the bridge. Near the shore you can see dense beds of Bull Kelp, which form an underwater kelp forest which is filled with marine life. Of all the pictures I’ve taken of Puget Sound over the years, this is my favorite.
