CASCADE MORNING
In late summer of 2022 we rented a Forest Service fire lookout for two nights. It was mesmerizing to see the vast views, and then the next morning awaken to dense fog all around us. The Cascade Mountains are enchanting; they get enough rain and snow that the mountain meadows are lush with alpine wildflowers from the time of snowmelt to the first frost. In this picture Fireweed is just about at the end of its flowering, and it stands tall above the forest below.
